Hitting the Mark: SURF-N Axe Throwing Challenge

On July 6th, the Surf-N students set up an axe throwing session at 540 Social Arcade. Although some found it challenging at first, it was a great opportunity to try something new in Blacksburg and connect with peers outside of the work environment. Not only did we learn a new activity, but we also learned more about each other and our endeavors as aspiring neuroscientists.

Surf-N Axe Throw

We are excited to introduce the 2024 cohort of fellows selected for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships in Neuroscience (SURF-N) program!

This year, we are proud to welcome 11 fellows into the program. Each fellow has been paired with a faculty mentor,  ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and support to thrive in their research endeavors.

Throughout the  10-week immersive experience, the 2024 SURF-N fellows will engage in cutting-edge research projects, explore their scientific interests, and develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and presentation abilities skills. Moreover, they will have opportunities to discuss science and career developments in neuroscience and beyond. At the end of the fellowship, these students will present their 10-week research outcomes at the 2024 SoN Summer Retreat, where their families will be invited to celebrate their achievements.

Please join us in congratulating the 2024 SURF-N fellows, and we look forward to witnessing their growth and success throughout their research journey.
