Over the summer Undergraduate recipients of the James and Lillian Gay School of Neuroscience SURF-N and NeuroREEF Summer Fellowships, along with undergraduate neuroscience researchers across VT worked side-by-side with VT neuroscientists to gain real-world hands-on research experience!  Students developed skills in experimental design, data analysis, and critical thinking while conducting scientific research elucidating mechanisms involved in medically relevant topics such as mood disorders, obesity, endocrine disruption, heavy metal toxicity, neurodevelopment, and drug addiction. This research experience culminated in a poster symposium on Friday, August 13th where the students honed their oral presentation skills and showcased the results of their summer research in front of an audience of peers, mentors, and family.
